Luis Vargas (Cometa): A Journey of Healing Consciousness Ethnobotany and Oriental Therapist

A biologist with a focus on ethnobotany and an oriental therapist with more than twenty years of experience, Luis Vargas “Cometa” has devoted much of his life to the study of Chinese acupuncture, integrative health, and the pathways of ancestral wisdom. He trained at the Colegio Superior de Acupuntura—where he later served as a professor—as well as at the Living Body Center for Oriental Therapies.

For over fifteen years, he has supported ceremonial work, primarily within the Red Path tradition, and also serves as a facilitator of inipi, or temazcal. His path began through self-healing and has been shaped by a deep spiritual search, a profound love for nature, and the understanding that human well-being cannot be separated from living in harmony with life itself.

He shares his medicine from a place of gratitude, experience, and respect, offering others the tools that have brought meaning, balance, and depth to his own journey. For him, consciousness is a way of seeking closeness to the Great Mystery and of walking in deeper harmony with oneself, with family, with community, and with the Earth.
